How To Ultrasound The Elbow - Medial Aspect

Medial Aspect

Mark Maybury, Research Physiotherapist Sonographer, takes us through a short video on how to scan the medial elbow. Mark explains that when scanning the medial elbow he generally likes to start with the probe quite high up.

Switching to the ultrasound footage Mark then shows us the humerus. He also points out nerves and musculature on-screen with his cursor.

Next, sliding his probe down the medial epicondyle while focusing on the bone and keeping it as bright as possible, Mark re-orientates his probe into an oblique orientation to show us the ulna, humerus, medial joint line and insertion of the common flexor origin.

View this short video and watch Marks live demonstration along with ultrasound footage.
